I have a 1981 OMC 3.8 with 800 outdrive. My shift control has become hard to get into forward and can not get it into reverse. This all happened after the control box mounting panel came off the side of the boat.
I am hoping that someone can tell me if I'm in for big trouble, or if I've got adjusting to do. I saw someone had linked to a 5 step process for the cobra. Any such thing for these older models. I'm new to baoting and at the very least would like to know if I'm being taken to the cleaners by the mechanic if I have to take it in.
