We traded in our 2003 Four Winns cuddy, which served us well in the brackish Chesapeake. Now that we are living in salty Florida, it is time for outboards. We bought a Sea Fox 288 Commander. 9'8" beam. Carolina style bow flare. Twin Yammies. Sea Fox had many problems 8 or 10+ years ago, but they seem to have been producing decent boats recently. Time will tell how this one holds up. We bought the boat that the dealer dragged around to the boat shows.

A very close fit in the lift slip with its 9'8" beam. The length ended up being much less of an issue than what I had anticipated.

We have a Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins Diesel quad cab. We'll mostly be using it from the lift behind the house, but the Dodge diesel handles it well for the times we'll be towing it to the other coast or the Keys, etc. We had no issues towing it back from the dealer. I'll probably get the annual Florida over-size permit, as the beam is 9'8", and they actually enforce the beam limits in the Keys and check for permits.

You need to come back down to Cape Coral and join us at Rumrunners. Any plans to head back down this winter or spring?

Like it a LOT! For me, the Diver's Door is a major feature. And, it confirms the hull is rugged enough to not count on the side and gunwale for structural support in that area.

Are your boat lift pilings set 12-feet apart? Ours are, and that suggests it could accommodate a beam like yours. Our is 8'6" and the lift looks like it could go up to maybe 10-feet. Is yours a 10,000 capacity?

Thanks all. j-d, our pilings are only 11 feet apart on center, so only about 10 feet between the insides of the pilings. That's why our 9'8" is a close fit. The lift was originally a 8,500 pound lift. I had it upgraded to 10,000 lbs. with the heavier 5/16" cables. There was a lot of measuring and I asked the lift company a lot of questions before getting this boat. Close call on the width.

The diver door has come in handy just for easy boarding from the dock.

There are a few around that look similar. Maybe we'll put on name on it eventually. Then again, I'm not sure. A name on the transom would be blocked by the outboards, and we're not keen on putting a name on the side.
