Hi Kenny,

1988 Santego 2767 with 4.3LX. My port starter is toast I think. Already tested the slave so it is not that.

How in the heck are you supposed to get to the port starter?

Any tricks of the trade? Please don't tell the engine has to come out.

If you remove the batteries and tray can you get in underneath? Looks like room, I'm not a big guy. I have a genny so would you cut the tray at the port stringer and rebuild the tray using a short "cripple" stud expoxied to the port stringer for added strength when reinstalled?

Do you pull the riser and stuff and reach down down?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Anybody? I have tomorrow afternoon and and Friday off. Would really like to try and get the starter replaced so I have both engines for the weekend.

Thanks in advance to all.

Chris

Mine has the 4 cylinder engines...starters are fairly easy. That being said, I've never seen a 27 Santego (or MOntego) with a generator...that has to compound things greatly. I'm sorry, I don't have any advice for you
