Top,
I am very seriously considering the modification for my off-season project. I had a fiberglass guy take a look as well as all of my "expert" friends and no one feels there will be any structural issues, especially after properly shoring it up. There is limited wiring to re-locate and I think the plexiglass spray shield can easily cut to the the width of the walk-thru and re-use the current supports. My plan is to angle off to the port-side of the salon hatch with the width about the same size as the sliding door to the storage compartment. The finished project looks great in my mind, it's just making the commitment of that first cut!
Congrats on your new home, Hope your move go smooth and damage free!
