Places to doc and eat - Sandusky, Port Clinton?

The transients for the 30 foot boats are now in the "south basin", not the best location but still okay. If you'd like, you can reserve one of the 50' docks in the marina, but for July 4th, I'm sure they are filled.
 
I do believe the Vermilion upgrade is complete...or almost complete. I was just past there a week or so ago and all the cement work seemed complete at the docs. Not sure about the washrooms.

Also for transient dockage in the area...Battery Park is a pretty nice place to stay a night or two. Just across the bay from Cedar point...you do not get all the noise being right next to the park as well.

We'll be at Ladd's in Put-In-Bay on June 28/29 (couldn't confirm reservations through Miller's)and we'll be at Portside on Kelly's Island on July 2/3.

If some of you guys are around these ports (or Gem Beach and Cedar Point) drop by and say hi.

"Split Decision" is on our Stern. Blue/White Doral Prestancia 30'.

A couple things on CP's transient docking.
2006 was the first year for the “south” side docks and I didn’t really like it at first but they are ok. As I understand it since then there are more transient docks then they have ever had a need for. Because CP charges your CC at the time of reservation and only gives same season rain checks I stopped doing reservation a couple years ago. Being from 100 miles away we only plan that trip once. Last year we arrived on 7/3 with two boats and no reservations and there were plenty of open docks. I can’t imagine with gas prices what they are that there would be any problems this year. We are thinking about stopping on 7/6 or 7/7 on our way home from Mi.

Niles, you're on to something. While the 50' docks on Pier 11 were full this past wkd, the transient docks were nearly empty. (which means there was room for 60+ boats!)
 
Kenny, I will let you know. We are leaving Bay City Mi on Monday for a short hop to Tawas and then on Tuesday, Canada Day we plan on crossing Huron to Kincardine On. We are going to work our way south on the Canadian side and plan on being at the new marina in St Clair City on the 4th. After that we are going to wing it and I’m not sure of our stops but we enjoy our annual visits to CP and stopping was discussed.

SLW…I should of said that you definitely need reservations to stay on the long docks!!

Kenny, we are here. Dock 11 slip 18 behind famous daves. We got in around 4:30 and went into the park for the evening. If you get a chance stop by in the morning, we are off to Kelley's tomorrow (Mon)

We're back from CP. Tried to walk by your docks but the gate was locked. Yes SLW, would have even had a cold one for you too. We had a great stay once again.

We were out yesterday just off East Harbor, didn't hear anything about it. Heard about some kids that went out in a 14' bowrider carrying 6 adults and 4 children when the CG stopped them. They made a few walk home from what I heard.
