Hello, new member here from Puerto Rico. this is my first post and question on this board.
Im removing my Bravo III from my Monterey that was slipped and needs some serious TLC. my plan is to remove all the paint and primer (old) to clean and bring back to life, prep with alumnaprep 33 & alodine, primer and paint. My question to the experts here is how much plastic media should it take for a single Bravo 3 outdrive?

thans in advance for sugestions and reaponse

First off, Welcome to BE. You will find it to be one of the best boating sites available.

As far as an answer to your question, there are to many variables to give you an educated answer. How old is the paint, what is the condition of the existing paint, what psi are you blasting at? All of these affect how much work it will be to remove the existing paint. The plastic media should be reusable for several cycles until it becomes so fractured that it is no longer of any value.

You may be surprised to find that it performs better on the third or forth recycle, after you have developed a "working mix". Ideally you want the mix to be made up of different size particles, with the larger ones fracturing the paint, and the smaller ones polishing the bear metal.

Have you looked at baking soda at all?

Hi pete thanks for the welcome and reply. I just started looking at eastwood soda blaster also. i will be using a 21 gall compresor with a 125 max psi.
the paint coat is from Nov. 2013 but due to work and other matters boat was neglected since then and I want to start from 0 remove all and paint. it has some spots were you can see the primer, shoul come of a lot more after power washing.

the attached pic is not the best but you get the idea of the neglect

You need to post your pictures to a remote site such as photobucket and then post the assigned link here.
