I am in the process of replacing exhaust manifolds, spacers, risers(elbows)on my 5.7 twin mercs, RWC with Osco. The directions in the box say to remove the paint from the gasket surfaces with thinner or acetone. I agree with this but man what a pain in the @#%*.
Does everybody do this and is there a better way?
Also 3 out of 4 shutters were gone. What causes them to go away? I checked to make sure they weren't still in the exhaust piping or bellows and they're not. 5 year old boat.
