Possibly heat exchanger leak

If one has a heat exchanger leak in the cooling system for a GM small block V8 what one notice? Sea water in the coolant? Slow loss of coolant into the sea water system?

I could be wrong, but it seems to me it could be either one.

I'd think you'd see your coolant getting diluted.

The raw water side usually has lower pressure than the slightly pressurized coolant side so the first symptom will be loss of coolant
