I'm a newbie and am looking for info on props. I currently have a 21' cuddy with a mercruiser 5L (220hp) Alpha 1. It came with a aluminum 14.5 dia. / 19 pitch. According to mercury that is best for mid-range cruising. What does diameter do for performance? What does pitch do for performance? From what I have read the lower the pitch the higher your rpm's will go. I'd like to stay with aluminum primarily for the cost. I'm looking for overall good performance. According to mercury they recommend the same dia. and pitch for "overall good performance" and "acceleration." 15.5 / 18. Won't I lose top end speed if I focus on hole shoot (acceleration).
