Hello, I have a PWC Dock Lift that I would like to install a pully to make lifting it out of the water easier. However, I am not sure what size pully to purchase. The JetSki weighs in at 750 lbs. Attaching some pictures of the lift and the pully anchor point. I was considering purchasing this pully from Amazon that has a load capacity of 992lbs. I would appreciate any thoughts on this topic. Thank you. Picture of Pully

I am certainly not an engineer, but I would buy a pulley that had a capacity of 1.5 to 2 times the weight of the PWC, and then figure I would be good.

How about determining the total weight and friction to be lifted first! That would be the PWC and the motion part (cradle) that the PWC sits on. Then add the drag resistance (friction) of the PWC and cradle in the track. Then multiply by the safety factor of 2. JMHO YMMV.

Just did a quick look online for Pulleys and Mechanical Advantage systems and there appears to be more info than I wanted to swim through. Anyway going along with what the RO's before me said I would opt for quality and strength overkill for safety reasons.

Yes, that was my delemma when I started to look online. I am not an engineer but will opt for quality and strength. Most likely will use two pulleys while I'm at it. Thanks for your comments.

I would be looking to rig a battery drill to lift it. The kind they use for lug nuts.

How are you going to mount the pullly? I've had eye bolts open under load long before the pully failed!

Whatever choice you make ALL components in the lift mechanism MUST have the same or better safety factor!

I mounted the pulley right where the existing cable was attached and ran that cable back up to the top of the lift. Used a 1200lb pulley and 2200lb Lifting eye bolt.

Since nobody asked, how did it work out? If yoou did it again anything you might do different? I'm sure there are others thinking avout doing something similar.👍
