What are the differences in layout and engines between the Carver Mariners 32', 33', 35' and 36'?

And did they ever change the bottom hull design after removing the keel in 1987 32' Mariner models? Do the newer ones have a different design to better handle choppy water and be more qualified for ocean cruising off shore?

the 1986 and later 32 Mariner/330 Mariner are the same. The keel was used only for 1986 and was then removed...no changes to the hull after that. The 350 Mariner (1997 thru 2003) are the same aside from fabrics and wood colors. In 2004, the 360 Mariner replaced the 350 and visually looks the same aside from the side windows and toe rail. However, the interior is completely different and somehow larger than before even though the cabin size remained the same. I'm told that the running surface to the 1997 and later Mariners is the same as the 1996 and earlier, however, the entry is quite a bit different. I haven't had a '97 or later Mariner ever pound on me (on Lake Erie, which is notorious for horrible water), although the boat isn't great in a following sea.

I guess I should at least mention the mid 1980's 36 Mariner which was built on the 3607 Aft Cabin hull and had a very nice 2 stateroom layout but was quite ungainly to look at ;-)

Another note to this thread. The 3257 Montego, built from 1986 thru 1992 is built on the same hull as the 3297 Mariner although the Montego never had a keel

Kenny, I just looked at one on the 3607 hull . Your kind, I find it to be some what ugly .

Heh, I resemble that remark, LOL.

One more question: Which Carver Mariner would best be qualified to cruise the Intercoastal Waterways?

Not a mariner but our 3607 works fine on the chesapeake bay ,rivers and the icw.

As a Great Lakes boater...I do not know the answer to taht question, although I would imagine all would perform about the same. I do know that the newer 350/360 Mariners are bettter on Lake Erie than the 3297 of the 80's and early 90's

I haven't been in the ICW, but cruise the Erie and Oswego canals. Any of the boats should be fine.

The only thing I have noticed with 36 is that it doesn't care for large following seas. anything over 5' in a following sea, you'll have an unpleasant ride.

I have found the 36 much more stable than the 32 of the same era. I am not sure if this is due to the size difference, or the Keel on the 36.

Yes a following sea is a great rollercoaster ride and it will wear your arms out.
