I know this is not the best spot to post, but I was hoping you could lend your expertise Ken.

Being in Lake Erie, how long do you think I can go till I need to pull the boat and winterize?

Thanks,

Jim (Docked in Sandusky/Kelley's/Marblehead)

well...that depends a little. The lake won't freeze usually until late december or early January. However, the air temp will be sold earlier than that. I would say you're probably safe thru most of November.

Thanks...I was planning on the 16th of November. I assume the water temp keeps the engines from harm. With all of the glass the boat still becomes very hot during the day, even at 50 degrees outside.

If your boat has an enclosed engine room, your engine will basically stay the same temp as the water, at least within a couple of degrees. So if the water doesn't freeze, neither will your engine.
I once went to my boat on a bitter cold night a few days before Christmas to winterize. The outside temp was around 10-15 degrees. I stepped inside the boat cabin and it was at least 20 degrees warmer than the outside air all because a good part of the boat is below water level and the water was probably still around 35 degrees.
