There is talk of a recall effort of Arnold due to the budget fiasco. Does that make sense? I think all of the state legislators are the ones to be held accountable! Maybe we should recall ALL of them!!!!

Arnold can not create a budget plan; the legislators have that responsibility.

IMHO

I think they - the legislators - should have their salaries put on hold or cut to minimal like the state employees. Its absurd what Calif does to itself. Maybe they can hire more state employees to solve the problem - like a special budget planning task force, and of course, they could be paid through a special, pre-budget fund of some sort?? Anyone know what your state pays to state employees? Would a 10% across the board pay cut help your budget crisis? I like Nevada...

I think we (Nevada)are going to start charging other states about, say, $1M a truck load to dump your nuculear waste at yucca mountain ( if it gets jammed down our throats). Figure that will help balance our budget!

Jim, no state can levy taxes on imports from or exports to another state without the consent of Congress.

Face it, you've got the best place for it, so you're gonna get it sooner or later--it only depends on how long Harry Reid wants his party to look like the obstructions causing global warming....

BTG, Bush pulled legislation yesterday to punish Russia for their invasion of Georgia the legislation was going to give Russia the business of reprossing and storing spent fuel from commercial reactors. There are electric utilities that are not to happy with Bush's action because their spent fuel pools are full. There is a old reactor from one of the SONGS units that South Carolina will accept but it remains crated on a beach in Southern Calif because Argentina won't let it sail around Cape Horn. Long term we will probably end up with 4 regional storage sites and some form of reprocessing. DD

Jim, you can always keep pushing for that Central Michigan site--with the rampant automaker unemployment, they might like the jobs. As I recall, the hills there are at least as seismically stable as Yucca Mountain....

yeah, its all about population and it isn't even close between Nevada and Michigan. Sorry Nevadans.

Maybe the site could go to Alaska... A really big state with only about 670,000 residents.

I really don't know what we can do -there have been millions or billions spent, and reality is, it is a really high tech facility and as good a place an any.

BTG - who said it was a "tax" - I am thinking a disposal fee! I really don't know the plan, nobody really does, but I sure hope Nevada gets some compensation for the risk we will be taking.
