My 2665 has the factory trim tabs. I remember on the old forum, there was an issue of them being to small, so forgeive me bringing it backup. Of course I just realized it is an issue with my boat. 1/2 tank of gas with 4 adults and 2 children and everyone had to get in the cabin so I could get on plane. Anyone remember what the fix or resolve was. Bennett apparently believes Regal knows its an issue.

The fix, if you choose to do it, is to purchase larger tabs. Call Tom McGow at Bennett to inquire what larger size(s) will fit the existing setup without removing the existing rams. Please have the current size when you call. You'll likely find that BoatFix has the least expensive replacement tabs.

I had two tabs made 18X12 with the edges turned down and flush rivited them to the existing tabs.

Total cost $80.00

Now I can have 4 people on the boat and full fuel and only using 3500 RPM get on plane in about 5 seconds.

She will now plane down to 20MPH

I think it also made the boat more stable and I find the auto tab system seams to work less.

Check with Benett for sport tabs in the current width you have. They are what check737 had made. The advantage is a theoretical 16% greater tab area w/o any increased actual size. I don't know the price from bennett. Check737 route may be the cheaper route.

Break:

Check737: Do you have any pix? I need to enlarge the tabs on my new to me boat. What you had built sounds like just what I need.

TIA

Sorry I don't have any pictures.

The original tabs on the 2665 are I believe 12X9 and are way too small.

Bennett suggest 24X9 and that is too large in my opinion for the hull so I chose to increase the cord to 12"

They work great and can push the nose over very quickly.

In hind site I would go with 12X10 or 12X12 sport tabs.

These could still be made up by a local shop and attached to the existing tabs or take one of the tabs off and take it to a shop to have a larger replacement made up.

The bigger issue is that the 2665 is under tabed and will benifit from larger ones.

What material did you use. I have a 33 that is way undertabbed. It frosts my butt that Bennett will allow this to be done with their product, but, it is what it is.

What angle did you place on the edges, and how much material is south of the angle? Was the overall tab 18" or is it 18" angle to angle?

Just an FYI - I spoke to Bennett and the rep said that Regal knows these issues. When they test the boat with the tabs, they do so with 1 person on board, then buy the tabs. Bennett really cant do anything about it, all they can do is educate the consumer. Its up to us to pressure the boat manufacturer. Just my 2 cents.[:-banghead]

I agree that the small tabs are a Regal issue not Bennetts

It is stainless, dont know the grade.

Mine are 18" bend to bend with about an inch and a half bent down. They taper from nothing at the transom to the full amount at the back.

I am not sure I would put the angles on again as they make it difficult to turn when backing into the slip.

On the other hand they have all but removed the wander when going slow and have greatly reduced the amount of tabbing while on plane.

I have the Bennett autotab system and it use to be active all the time now it only blinks once and awhile.
