Have V/P 5.0FI 1996 - 260 hrs. Motor started missing at mid to high speed. Slowed down and ran fine but as soon as speed increased stared missing again. After some thought, realized boat had been sitting for several months in Central Florida with 3/4 full tank of fuel. AH HA, water in fuel tank - replaced fuel filter. Fired engine and begin hearing a whistling type noise. THEN touched the electric fuel pump and it was hot! Within minutes, heard a click/snap sound and the circuit breaker on the fuel pump flipped, engine died. Waited a few mins and reset the breaker, started engine and kept my hand on the fuel pump - again became REAL HOT.. Shut er down immediately.

Any suggestions from you guys??? New fuel pump? other tests to make sure?
Someone suggested -" Check that the anti-syphon valve in the fuel tank is not stuck and therefore causing an obstruction in the fuel suction line."
Anyone know where this valve is?

I don't have your specific engine, but it might give you some insight. I have V/P 5.0Gi engines on mine. The chevy engines. I believe you have the Ford engine. Mine has high and lower pressure fuel pumps. I left un-treated fuel in the boat for a 10 months and the fuel gummed and clogged the high pressure pump. Bought a new pump and no more problems. Changed filters in both engines and added treatment. Hope that helps. My dealer lead me onto the fouled pump as they saw a few come in especially after the new fuel came out in Calif. Hope that helps.
