Any suggestins? Its like the backing has melted to the nonskid. I've tried pressuer washing, nonskid deck cleaner, acetone, comet, tons of elbowgrease with a stiff deck brush and can't make a dent in it. I even tried zing (knowing it wouldn't work but worth a shot.) Thanks for the advice!

Been there It took a long time to get rid of most of it. I tried everything the thing that that work best was acetone you need to soak it and then pick at it. It comes off but but its hard to do without scratching the surface. The way I finally got rid of it was to sell the boat. If I tried a little hard I'm sure I could have got the rest off. It just never bothered my enough to work at it I replaced the carpet and the problem at least didn't get worse.

Not wanting to soak my gel coat in acetone, I used a stiff bristle brush - no metal - and a lot of elbow grease. I also used polish and was to soften the stuck backing. It is a slow process and it helps if you let it sit from time to time so it dries and breaks off easier.

Acetone won't hurt your gelcoat. You need a solvent to get this off.

Thanks for the replies. I will try soaking with more acetone, but my arms are killing me so messimng with it isn't a priority; and the new carpet will be here shortly so it will be covered up.

I'd think something less volatile (maybe paint thinner or a mix of both) and let it soak for a while to soften up the stuff.
