Hello,
We need to replace the carpet in the cockpit and flybridge of our 1999 Carver Mariner 350. We have gotten a few bids from local companies and the price has been quite high. Do any of you know of any companies that could make it for us that already have the template? I have talked to a company that was reasonably priced but we will need to send a pattern or the original carpet. The shipping of the original carpet could be pretty high. Have any of already gone throught this? Any advice would be appreciated.

I think that is the place that you can also order a template kit, lay it on your old carpet and cut it to size, then mail the template back and they make the carpet.

or you could use your old carpet to make a template out of paper or whatever lightweight cloth is on closeout sale at the local fabric store. would be MUCH lighter and easier to ship to them... but maybe a PITA.
...but ordering from someone that already has the template would be optimal.

I had a friend who owned a 2000 350 Mariner, he was among the first boats that Snap in Carpet did. If you look on their website you can see the boat with the new carpet installed. I am sure that they have the template.

I know John the owner and he keeps his Sea Ray in our harbor. Let him know Ray told you to give him a call!

Got mine from "SnapIn" a couple of weeks ago. Got a box at the UPS store that looked like one you could put a golf bag in. Rolled the old up and sent it to them. About ten days later, the new arrived and looks great.

Check their website and look at the different types and colors. Send them an email or call them and they will send you samples. Very friendly and responsive to inquiries.

Similar topic, any suggestions for replacement canvas? Was going to go the custom route, but if there are options, would like to see them.

What year and model?

Thanks for the SnapIn referral. Their response was they needed the name of the customer who had the carpet replaced on a 1999 Carver Mariner in order to access the template. If anyone knows would you mind emailing me the name?

Thank you

i used snap-in as well in the past (on a 265 fourwinns vista). not cheap, but great company to deal with. i rolled up my old one and sent it to them. got back a perfect match.

Name of the boat was Golden Eagle out of New Buffalo Michigan, I cant access the private message feature on this site however I believe the owner of Snap In Carpet knows the old owner of the Mariner, I believe they shared a finger pier at some point.

You have been very helpful. Here is the response I have received from the owner of SnapIn. Can you get me the name and contact information of Golden Eagle? I can contact him/her to ask if he can go on board their boat to measure.

Thanks again. Here is his response.

Thanks Carolyn,
Yes...i used to be dock neighbors with the owner of the "Golden Eagle" 350 Mariner. We did do all of his exterior carpet but this was prior tu us cutting our carpet by computer, hence, we do not have the file. I still see the boat around our marina...if you know the owner you may ask if i can have access to the boat to retrieve the patterns. Thanks Carolyn...have a great day!!

If it helps, you can have her contact me and I can let her in to my office where there is a 2005 36 Mariner, I believe the cockpits are essentially the same. I sold the Mariner to the new owners however their boat is shrink wrapped. If you would like to go that route you can have John call me ( Ray Bock ) and I will show him the boat. The boat in question is indoors in heated storage so its accessible.

Guess I am the cheap one of the bunch. I made a replacement for my 2000 Mariner easily. Bought some berber. Traced my old carpet onto new. Then sent it out to a guy with a commercial sewing machine & had him sew a binding on it which I purchased from a trim shop. Putting in the domes I can do easily myself in spring. I made a new piece for the stern area behind the patio door the same way. I did not have a template but made one from several sheets of bristol board taped together. Simple & total cost maybe $200. I know it is not too waterproof but for what I spent I can toss it in a few years.
