Hello Everyone,

I wanted to schedule a striper fishing trip for the fall run in November and I was looking for a nice rv park, that is close to some good striper fishing were I can lauch the boat.

I typically troll the Grant Line slough in the Tracy area (Dells) for the fall run but there are no RV parks there that I'm aware of.

Any suggestions?

Thank you.

One place in the South Delta that comes to mind is WindMill Cove. They have an RV park, but it is pretty simple with some live in "residents" there. Their launch ramp was "weeded" in last time I was there (2005?), but there are ramps close by, and maybe you could get a dock space or moore off the beach? It's on the San Joaquin deep water channel - and I was under the impression they were to fix their ramp (new owners?).

You might try calling Turner Cut Marina, or Tiki Lagoon. They might accomodate RV's I think...

Further North, there's Brannan Island State Park, which is very nice, with a nice launch ramp and mooring, close to the Sac & the San Joaquin rivers. Has a very nice RV area, nice facilities.

I don't recommend Tiki as their launch ramp sucks. Many people end up with flat trailer tires after the exposed rebar slashes their tires as they drop off the edge of the pavement (which is right at the low tide mark). The turn at the top of the ramp is pretty tight so if you are launching with your motorhome it could be really tough.

Turner Cut has a fairly nice campground and a launch ramp that is in good shape but it have very little room to manueuver. I really doubt that you could launch with a motor home on Turner's ramp.

An old marina that is getting a major work over is Whiksky Slough marina. They were supposed to open last June but it seems that they have had some major delays. I have stopped by a couple of times and it looks like they could open the campground and launch ramp but their gas dock is missing in action at the moment. When they do open they will have a great launch ramp that a motorhome would have no problem with. They have RV campsites that look really great. They have been growing the grass all year and so far haven't had any campers so the lawns look great! The RV sites are back in instead of pull through but they look great.

Orwood has a campground. I have passed by on the water a few times and launched there once but I never really paid attention to the campground other than to note that they had one. I have seen tents and RVs there.

I would suggest either Brannon Island State Park on 3 mile slough or Vieiras Resort on the Old Sacramento. Brannon has a beautiful launch, excellent RV campsites and you can leave your boat in their slips overnight. Vieiras Resort launch ramp will be fine for motorhomes. They also have a very nice RV Park nestled in beautiful trees and grassy area. You can also leave you boat in the water. I think they charge $8.00 per night to leave your boat in the water. Also if the salmon are still running you can catch one on that part of the river. Striper fishing is excellent also. Have a great time on the water.

All of the launch ramps along Piper Slu at Bethel Island are in excellent shape because the levees have been upgraded over the past 10 yrs. Some of the marinas will launch your boat with their tractor while you leave the RV settled into their RV park.......

Thanks everyone for your feedback. These suggestions are very helpful, thank you.

Joe, from an RV point of view Sugar Barge is the cleanest, neatest and newest. But, if you are looking for lots of things to do then Tower Park is probably the best. We used many of them in our 40' Motorhome and we talk from that standpoint. On the other hand, as a Delta boater from the late 60s, just about any of them are okay for boats.
