What happened to the weather Sat. night? The forcast called for 1~3' all weekend and wind 5-10 knots. We were slipped at Put-In-Bay Yacht Club Sat. and it was a beautifull day, sunny, light breeze, hardly a cloud in the sky. We turned in about 10:30. I woke up about midnight because the wind was whipping the burgee pretty hard, about 1 o'clock I realized I needed to get up.

Our boat was pitching so bad that the rails were getting close to the pilings. I adjusted the fenders to keep the boat away and added second lines to the bow and stern. All hell broke loose at this point. Lines were breaking, boats were getting into eachother, one boat actually pulled the t-post right out of the dock. It was chaos. It was about 5 o'clock before we got everyone tied back up and it calmed down enough to go back to sleep.

It left as fast as it came. By 2 o'clock Sunday afternooon we went home in 2' waves and no wind. Yesterday afternoon a friend told me the winds were around 40 mph. We must have had 3' waves at the dock and whitecaps.

Thankfully we survived without any damage but not everyone was as lucky. Lots of dockrash, broken lines, etc.

Don't ya just love a Nor'Easter at The Bay? :(

It couldn't have been fun - it woke me up even in the shelter of CPM. I don't leave home without snubbers. They go a long way to prevent snapping lines, but as you know, pilings are non-existant up there, so keeping the boat off the dock is a challenge.

Two weeks ago we were at the front of CNYC's E Dock, right next to the PIBYC's ramp. We had about 25 mph worth of a NE'er, which was bad enough. I was tempted to put a snubber line over to the ramp dock, but I never got the nerve.
