I am looking at picking up a '96 sundancer 240 for myself and my young kids (and the wife too if it comes down to it), the boat has the 5.7 mercruser with a reported 250 hp, can you ski behind this boat? (slalom) hopefully I will be joining the sea ray club.
Thanks in advance for your help!

A friend had one years ago. If you are deep starting on one ski the boat will dog you a bit and coming across the wake on one ski is interesting. It pulled you out fine on 2 skis.

You can always change the prop and it WILL pull the skier up. In fact, you can pull 2 slaloms up if it is propped for it.

RIGHT, I am buying it! thanks for your help. I learned to slalom behind a 'ray in 1983. boy I am old! I can for sure afford a few props for this thing lol.
thanks for your help.

I had a 240 sundancer. I pulled of a skier no problems but it was two skis and he never dropped one. Boat has plenty of power and the wake is not bad at all. Great boat. My biggest complaint was the center of gravity, boat seemed to bank too hard in turns and when it hits wakes it felt tippy, but its just the design. Its alot of boat up top and not as much in the water.

Pulling up a slalom skier will depend on the skier. You're going to drag them for awhile before he/she pops up. Personally I hate that. All the water coming into my eyes while holding onto the handle and waiting (dragging) for enough speed to get up takes the fun out of it. Sure the prop can be changed to make it better. But changing the prop everytime you want to go sking may become a pain. I say pull them up on two ski's and drop one if they want to slalom. I think once you get the boat on the water you'll have a much better idea as to it 'skiability'. I don't think the boat will have any problems when the skier is using both ski's.

Actually, we went wakeboarding off my boat and what we did was we used a tube. We had one of those big tubes and the person would get ready and lay in the tube with board mostly out of the water. I would then gun the boat and they would pop right up. So there are ways to do it! We tried it with out the tube and the the slow hole shot made it too hard to launch the skier.

Look into a Pirahna Prop. You can change the blades in the water in 10 minutes. That broadens your scope of your activities on any given day.
