Can someone shed some light on the logic behind SeaRay's 2-character model codes?

Most make sense:

Express Bridge = EB
Express Cruiser = EC
SunSport = SS
Amberjack = AJ
AftCabin = AC

etc.

But why is Sundancer "DA" and Sedan Bridge "DB" when they could've been "SD" and "SB"?

SD could also mean sedan as in sedan bridge.

DA stands for 'Dancer'
As I remember DB is (was) a sundancer hull with a bridge.

I wonder where they got DA instead of SD though?

if anything, DB are EC's with bridges... if you think about it, they have the characteristics of EC's: straight shafts and fwd mounted engines. The EB is more of dancer with a bridge, but SeaRay decided to relate it to an Express instead?!

it's confusing!
