I have a 2003 sea ray with a 5.0 mercruiser with a bravo 3 with 98 hrs on her. I wanted to have the impeller replaced. When the mechanic opened the pump he found it to be unusable and needed to be replace. He and Mercury couldn't understand why the pump failed but was not warranted and $398.00 later pump and impeller installed. I Take the boat for the first run of the season and the serpentine belt goes. Just splinters all over the place. Good thing I wasn't out to far and got it back. I now have 102 hours on the boat and was told the belt just wore out. I would like to know if I'm an Idiot because I cant believe that these things go so quickly. The only thing I noticed is the new pulley doesnt run true there's a wobble in it,, of which I'm told is OK and not the reason for the belt failure. I would like to know if I'm nuts or stupid.
