I will be coming down the Delaware thru the C&D to Baltimore later this month. (Memorial Day weekend)

Can anyone recommend reasonable places to get service (Like if I have to get towed in) that provides good service with out getting raped.

Most likely I will not need it, but I would rather have a name and number now, so If I need to call Sea Tow or Boat US, I can say take me to ....

Thanks

I had to put in at Summit North in C&D Canal once, and they treated us fine, and made the repair quickly. But, that was a long time ago; maybe ten years.

I used Hacks Point Marina on the Bohemia for winter storage and services. They are a basic boatyard and use mechanics that are on call, not full-time. The mechanics were top notch and very reasonable ($65/hour last year). They can haul boats up to about 12 tons. No fuel available.

On the Sassafras I would use either Sassafras Harbor or Duffy's for service. Both treated me well. We were slipholders at Skipjack Cove on the Sassafras but I normally avoided service there due to the high rates and less than expected experiences I and others had.

I have no service experience or recommendations south of the Sassy unless you head all the way to Crisfield.

SeaTow has boats based on the Bohemia and TowBoatUS is based on the Sassafras.

Keep them coming!

Boat Handler,

Summit North is on my list (Is my list), based on location and conversations with them at the boat show, and when my Uncle was looking to slip there.

MikeeH,
I am adding Hacks Point Marina to my list. Thanks

In Baltimore Tidewater Yacht Service is probably the best. Worton Creek Marina is also very good on the east side of the bay.

MikeeH mentioned Duffy Creek, but they do not have a lift - so if you need to get to the bottom, that is not the place. I am in Georgetown Yacht Basin on the Sassafras and while they charge near top $ rates (I think they were $70/hr last year), they have an excellent reputation for all services.

Jim,
I didn't know Duffy had no lift. The work I had done there didn't require a haul-out. Who hauls boats at Duffy?
We never had any work done at Georgetown but never heard anything bad about them, either. BTW, $70/hour is not a bad rate today. Last I checked Skipjack (at least 2 years ago) they were at $85/hour.

Mike,

I've never SEEN a lift at Duffy, but they have a lot of boats on the hard over the winter, so they surely have some provision for lifting... My memory of the service rate is also a couple of years old at this point, too. Sorry for the possible mis-info.

Duffy gets boats out somehow. They hauled mine last year and replaced bellows. Plus I usually go for the mid year haul and wax. I think it's something like $11 a foot, so for $250 seems pretty good insurance. They check it over while out to see if it needs anything.
