I have a 1985 235hp chevy 305 w/omc outdrive. On friday my parts arrived, new dist. cap, rotor, points, plugs, and plug wires. My boat had been running fine but I figured the season was going to be long, so I might as well change these parts because I did not know when the last time they were changed (I am the new owner). All the parts were wrong except plugs, they did cross reference over. My motor called for mr43t ac plug, but the part store talked me into #10 ac delco rapid fire plugs at $5.00 apiece. I also ordered a quadrejet rebuild kit that my buddy was going to rebuild on friday night. Needless to say but with all the wrong parts and trying to chase down the right ones,I had to reinstall I carb before I rebuilt it. The only thing that I was able to do was replace the plugs. I took The boat out Sat and noticed a severe loss of power. Before I started Fri, my max rpms were 4600 and topspeed around 44mph. Sat on the water my Max rpms were 3000 and top speed was 30mph. I detected no missing of the engine. I checked today and everything seems to be hooked up right. You guys have pointed me in the right direction before with my outdrive, so I am hoping that you guys can point me in the right direction.
