Walter, just a moisture condensates on the outside, it condensates on the inside of the too. A little condensation, water runs into the crack, temp drops and bam, you got broken weld.
Never thought about the inside condensation issue. Makes sense but then why do we shrinkwrap if water can get in.
Walter, I want to look at it. Curious to see where it broke. Maybe something as simple as tying a washcloth or plastic around the welds to protect them from moisture.
I have had cracking happen on my arch. No idea how water gets in but it looks like ice damage. Plan to fix it and then caulk as much as I can to try to stop it.
