Happily boating along today at 3k rpms or so and I heard a slight thud. I quickly put the shifter in neutral and raised the prop assuming I had run aground or perhaps snagged something in the water. Prop looked fine, I reached over the back and spun it, freely spun. Jumped back in the boat and tried to restart. I hear the starter trying to turn the motor over but it isn't turning over. I tried it several times and no go. I moved the shifter around and jiggled everything I could think of. It won't turn over....This lake visit was the first visit since I changed the gear fluid and changed out the thermostat. It was mostly a test voyage and I hadn't been running the motor hard at all (maybe cruised at 4k rpms for a bit). I checked the oil before I started the motor (as always) and everything was fine. I rechecked the oil after the lockup and it looked ok. It wasn't overful and didn't appear to have water in it or anything. Anyone have any clue wtf happened? I was diligently watching the guages the whole voyage and never saw the boat overheat or have low oil pressure or anything. The boat was running really well. The only thing that I did notice was a slight clanking sound at 2500 rpms, but the sound disappeared at 3k rpms. The sound wasn't loud at all so I wasn't too concerned.

Thanks,
Casey

P.S.- Today is 6-6-06. Anyone else had a string of bad luck or just me? :)
