Prediction for almost 4" at Stony Point!

I'm thinking we got out of Dodge just in time!

I'm still in. Forecasts range from 3" to 18". I was planning on going out Sunday. This presents a bit of a wrinkle to the plans. I'll bring a shovel. 18" of wet snow on the deck could make things interesting. Hopefully the warmer temps on the creek will keep totals down.

This is crazy weather - we got two inches up in Clifton Park last night! Now more on the way Saturday into Sunday, and I didnt get the leaves up yet!!!

This is so much like the "SnowLeaf" storm we had back in what 1989?

Must be all that damn "global warming" they are talking about.

What impact does snow have on a boat? This is supposed to be heavy stuff and if there's 10+" of it, what would that do?

Biggest concern is weight of snow on canvas, it can bend frame or rip the canvas.

My plan is to snow blow driveway tonight and go for a cruise tomorrow. I'm not afraid of no stikin snow.

I'm thinking anything is possible. As with any storm checking on boats in the water is a good idea unless it's blowing 150 mph and you can't get to it.

Mike that is one of the best reasons for a real hardtop on many boats that are in areas where it can snow.

BillM2 one of the problems if your not on the boat while it is snowing is the scuppers getting clogged then the combination of snow, rain and ice if left untreated can sink the boat as illustrated in the picture above.

I'm onboard now and it's snowing hard. Air temp is 35 degrees so nothing is sticking. I may come back for the evening hours with a shovel. My open cockpit area is 10x 10 or so and that would hold a lot of snow. Big difference though if we get 6" or 18" - which is doubtful.

There are still a lot of boats with Bimini tops and canvas up. It should prove to be an interesting morning.

No snow yet in Chicago. But I know what's coming. So lots of indoor tennis for the next 111 days. Then in the car with She Who Most Be Obeyed and away to Naples and clay courts. I'd go earlier and stay longer but The Admiral has to be near the grandkids or she gets a nose bleed.

Stay warm and don't fall on the ice it is hard on the hips and head.
