I have a 97' w/v-drive 454's and it was time to change the oil. If you take out the back seat (remove the two pins to stern) there are two positions that your hatch lift can be set at. Lift as far as possible and then remove the load off of the pin and pull out. Lif the hatch so that it is straight vertical and there is another pin placement to hold it there.
Man what a difference it is to work on the stern side of the engine and the genset. You can get to everything without always being bent over. What a difference a couple more minutes makes on preperation.
