Sunday's sunset here in Miami was spectacular, we caught it returning slowly in the dying breeze.

None have been retouched btw, the last two were taken from roughly the same angle but a short while apart as the colors changed

Pascal- That's a beautiful sight to behold and about as different as one could get from our present blizzard with 12-20" snow and up to 77mph winds recorded at the Martha's Vineyard Shipyard this AM.. No color here, all b & w.

Yes, bronze hardware goes very well with wood... It s also all made in the US (Spartan hardware in Maine). You d be surprised how many bronze port lights at made in China these days... We tried to stick to US made stuff as much as possible , like the paint which came from Kirby Paint in New Bedford (family run business since 1850!)

But sometimes, well... The sink is hecho in messico but I thought it looked good

I have been using Kirby Paints for close to twenty-five years. The above waterline coatings do well. I'm not a fan of the anti-foul they sell, in warm GoM waters I was having growth issues in the high erosion zones, stem, stern post and above the wheel. In my area International does a better job for me, but I am down to my last few gallons of the good stuff. I use the Kirby Red Lead Primer, under a white top coat on my galvanized handrails and it holds up for several seasons. I primed all of the limber holes with the red lead when we rebuilt a few years back. I purchase the white lead paste (when they have it) to blend in the top coatings to add durability. I also used it to bed the new planks to the new frames during the rebuild. Boat bone-yards are a good source of quality bronze fittings. I purchased a pick-up truck load of bronze winches, fairleads, turning blocks and miscellaneous hardware from a boat yard owner that was shutting down. He kept referring to the pile of hardware as his savings account.
