Hello, I have 2016 Mercruiser 4.5l 250 Engine with an alpha 1 and just recently the speedometer stopped working. I did check the port hole on the outdrive and poked around with a small drill bit as I thought it was clogged by a spider web but that did not help. I then proceeded to the speedometer at the helm and pulled the tubing and blew air through it with my compressor and did notice bubbles coming out the outdrive, however that still did not resolve the speedometer issue. Does anyone have suggestions on what to check or test next.

Thank you

Hook a tube up to the speedo and gently apply air pressure to make sure the gauge will works?

Yes I was planning to do that but was concerned that I might damage the speedo. Will try that today with very low pressure. Thanks

I would think that blowing into the tube might present on the gauge.

I know you blew air through the line back to the stern but if you don't get it diagnosed before your next trip out try pulling the tube off the back of the gauge and see if you get water flow out of it at cruise.... could be a kink.

I was able to blow air into the speedo in it registered and I was able to disconnect the tube from the outdrive and blow air both ways. I was also able to blow air from the line going into the outdrive. Everything was cleared out I hooked everything back up and the speedometer is now working. I'm guessing there was some sort of obstruction maybe a cobweb in one of the lines. Thanks for all your comments.
