Put in a few times using my friend's boat, and wandered around. I see B&W is building new wet storage - much needed. Things very quiet there, end of season and all but the weather was great. Gas prices were OK, not as bad as I noticed elsewhere, and maybe twenty cents lower than just over at Tower Park.

Then a bit further along I see Perry's still has not sold and seems to be falling apart ever more rapidly. Looks like they are not going to put any effort (money) into it, and leave the work to whoever buys the place. Shame because it's pretty ugly now. If I were in a mind to retire to the life of a river rat I might even be tempted!

Great weather and flat water - no people! We were in t-shirts and shorts, not baking but not cold at all. Wish we had more time I would have run up for a Whimpy burger.

That launch ramp at Tower Park is brutal. I can see why they can't do anything on the land side because after all they can't lower the levy, but is there some government reg that won't allow them to extend further into the water and reduce the grade?

If someone bought Perry's I think it would be best to just start over than try to repair the place. I also notice alot of old boats for sale on Craigs List at Perry's which leads me to believe that there are many abandoned boats there.

I was at Bethel Island for the weekend. Arrived just as the rain really hit, so it was wet unloading the car. Good thing the boat is in a shed. The rain sounded nice to my ears. Had a great Friday night dinner at SJYC [baby back ribs w/garlic sauce and all the fixings....yummy!]. All for $10 per person. Stop by around 7PM any Friday for dinner. Guests are welcome.

Saturday I puttered around the boat then I took the boat down to Pittsburgh. What a beautiful cruise. Flat water and comfortable temps the whole day. I like to run the boat down into the salt water in the fall to wash any left over slime and such. That even cleans up the transome and outdrive. I filled up with gas at Russo's/Hook Line and Sinker for $3.59/gal for 89 Octane. They have held the same price all summer.

I went to a fun Levee Party over on Taylor Slough around 5PM. Potluck and BYOB; live music and lots of dancing. I left around 9, but the party was still going strong.

Sunday I had breakfast with a friend before heading back up the hill. Nice, nice weekend!

kevfra, TP could probably get a permit to extend the ramp and even a low interest loan from DBW if they wanted to improve it. I think they would love to not have to launch boats at all.

Next time you up into the Delta, try Bethel Island. There are lots of launch ramps; most charge $10 to launch and a lot of the ramps have been newly improved while levees where being raised. Stop by SJYC and say Hi!!!!

Thanks for the update about Perry's. My Pops used to have a boat at Korth's, and that's where I did a lot of boating in my earlier days. I love the Moke area (the "Loop" now...LOL).

I've been wanting to go for a cruise in that area for a couple of nights, leaving the rods at home. Hope I get that done soon, I miss that area.

FlutterBy,

I'm so envious of you! You have the life style, and seem to get out a lot! Good for you.

When I had a trailered 27', the ramp at the Sugar Barge was one of the many FEW that were the perfect angle for my boat. It's a nice ramp.

Hi Mitch! Get yourself retired and then you too can have my lifestyle! It is pretty neat......

The launch ramps at Russo's and Beacon Harbor have been rebuilt and you will probably find them as good as SB. Parking at Russo's can be a problem because of all the Bass Tournaments they have.......

One of my boat neighbors caught a nice keeper stripper at the dock last Sunday. They don't eat stripper, so they gave it to me. I cleaned it and kept it on ice til I got home. What a great dinner. Yum!!!

Odd coincidence Flutter, but the guy in the slip next to me snagged a nice striper Sunday just as I was buttoning up the boat. Don't think he was going to share, though.

Which reminds me that Spindrift Restaurant will have fresh salmon in today. I like striper and sturgeon, but salmon is in another league for me.

Hmmmmm, salmon is on my list too. Especially when it is fresh! Do they ever have it on the weekend? It would be worth a cruise over for some fresh salmon!

Stripper? Ah, I know you meant striper...

They are very good eating. I love to sturgeon fish, but don't actually care for the taste. But striper to me is a fine eating fish. The texture of the meat is very nice.

I look forward to retiring, only maybe 5 years, I'll be 52 then. One day I'll make it up there, maybe go for a lunch cruise with you if you'd like.

Maybe it is time for another BoaterEd meal at Spindrift????

Mitch, thanks for correcting my spelling! True, I do not eat strippers, but love to eat striper! I too do not care for eating sturgeon........
