Finally got the boat launched and out of the yard with the new factory recon cummins. Been a long process dues to a number of surprises as well as some hurricane damage repair.
The 450hp C series replace the original 325hp Detroits 8V71Ns. They re not new but factory recons which is pretty close to new as the only thing not replaced is the block.
Also put new shafts, stabilizers, all new TH and sea cocks, rebuilt the entire steering system, new larger trim tabs and much more. Yesrs of bottom paint was sanded off and bottom was epoxied, barrier coated and painted. We also removed and sealed 8 or 9 old thruhull... back in 1970 each of the three heads had two thru hulls...
Havent done a full sea trial yet but so far we should be on target for a 20kts top speed and 17kts cruise. I ran at hull speed on the way home with a brief run at 70/75% which resulted in 17kts despite the boat being loaded with stuff, tools, parts, etc...
Still have a year of work to redo the interior and other things. We had to cut out a lot of cabinetry to run the new 8" exhaust thru the master and we had to remove some damaged cabinetgry on the port side after irma...
Here are 3 quick videos... swipe left for all three. The underway video shows a phone at the helm with speed. The steering inputs are due to air remaining in the steering.
Outside is still rought, have to redo the weather boards around the aft. Will probsbly paint the boat next year when everything else is done.
