I have a Standard Horizon HX350S that I carry as a backup. It's a really great radio. I took it out to give it a charge on Tuesday and dropped it on the garage floor. The thing is built like a brick and has always seemed virtually indestructible. However, it landed on the on-off/volume knob and sheared it off.

Anyone have any experience with sending equipment to Standard for repairs? My experience in recent years with other electronic equipment is that it's often cheaper and more effective to buy a new replacement rather than pursue repairs. The radio is fine, except for the broken knob and I hate to just toss it in the trash.

I don't see any obvious way to take the unit apart to try and repair it myself. I might be able to "fix" the broken knob shaft with some epoxy, but I don't really want my backup functionally compromised.

Any thoughts or experiences?
