I've got twin Merccruiser 4.3L gas engines. Recently, I've had a problem getting the engines started. Just had a starter replaced, but the problem seems to be fuel related. When the engines are cold, it takes an inordinate amount of time, pumping the throttles to get the engines started. Once warmed up, they run fine and restart without a problem.

I was thinking that it's due to the ethanol in the fuel. If so, is there any kind of additive I can use? My mechanic mentioned that the carbs seemed bone dry when he tried starting them. Fuel filters only have 15 hours on them. The boat gets used on weekends. Any suggestions?

TIA,
