Let me introduce my self.
My name is Dave and I live in central Pennsylvania (about 25 minutes outside of Harrisburg).
I've been thinking about getting a boat for a while now however I only want a boat if I can boat in a decent body of water without traveling to far to launch.
I love Raystown Lake and although it's not too far to travel to occasionally I wouldn't want it to be my main destination to boat.
Which brings me to the Susquehanna River.
The part that runs through Harrisburg (correct me if I'm wrong) has only a couple of miles of navagatable water.(north is to rocky and just south is a dam).
So how far south of the Susquehanna River do you need to put in to get to the Chesapeake Bay?
Can you practically speaking access the bay from the Susquehanna?
I know the Susquehanna is notoriously shallow but doesn't it get deeper further south?
I've pulled my hair out trying to find info on the Susquehanna (search functions on message boards that have them, Google searches, Pa.Waterways sights ect.) and can't find any information on boating on the Susquehanna.
If any one has any information they can give or direct me to any sources it would be greatly appreciated.
Also I'm leaning toward a pontoon boat or a deck boat.
Will this work for the bay?
