Switch from mechanical pump to electric

Hi all.

My previous engine (1997 Merc 5.7) had a mechanical fuel filter sitting between the fuel filter and carb line in. The line between the carb and the pump is a form fitted stainless steel tube.

My new 5.7l uses an electric pump. A few questions....is it CG compliant to use a black flexible fuel approved line in place of the steel tube? The electric pump sent with the engine has barbed brass connectors so I don't think I can use the steel tube.

Anybody else have to go from mechanical to electric? If so, where did you mount it and how?
 
I should think that would be OK since I believe the USCG requires a flexible section of approved fuel line between any point where the fuel line is mounted to the boat and where it is attached to the engine. Use Type A1-15.

That said , I see this offered by Sierra which mentions type A1.

Will your new electric pump turn off when the oil pressure alarm switch closes, except for a few seconds when the key is 1st turned On to prime?

Thanks Sandy. I think I’ll give that line a try. Re, the fuel pump electrical hookup, I’ve already hooked up the pump to an added oil pressure switch. For the primer function I’m leaning towards a helm mounted momentary switch as I’ve read a number of posts that sing it’s praises over the starter selonoid route.

I believe a electric fuel pump also require a return line.

Is that a CG requirement? The reman company sent the fuel pump with the engine as an add on. It contains no such return.
