Telular modem / router issue

Trying to use a telular SX7T cellular modem with a router... modem works fine in voice mode with either an ATT sim in the US or a BTC sim in the Bahamas.

The LEDs on the unit show that it is receiving 3G signal from the cell network but I can't access the modem control page. I have it connected to the router (Netgear nighthawk) but entering the modem up address results in a page not found error.

Modem manual only explains how to hope it up to a computer not to a router... can't imagine it wouldn't work with a router... I can't try it directly to my laptop as it doesn't have Ethernet port, only USB and I don't have an adapter here

Anyone experienced with that Telular box?

What IP address is the Telular assigning to the Netgear router?

I don't know. The telular manual says the IP address to access the telular control panel is 192.168.90.1 but nothing comes up. No problem using the rogue IP address or the Western digital network drive...

That seems to be an old unit and from what I skimmed from the manual (https://www.manualslib.com/manual/169681/Telular-Sx7m.html) it wasn't designed to hook up to a router but rather a PC (running XP or older from the looks of the graphics!). However, by default it should be giving out a dynamic IP address. Your Netgear should get an IP in the 192.168.1.x range and the gateway address should be 192.168.1.90. What are you getting for DNS addresses? I'd try the gateway address and Google at 8.8.8.8.

THe problem is the same I hav w/ my "new improved" cable modem: Both the cable modem ( in your case Telular ) and your router ate attempting to "route". While your router is expecting to uplink, the Telular is not expecting that.

In my case, I did a work around and took my existing router out of the mix ( Not what I wanted. But I got lazy and was out of coffee ).

The "cure" is to turn off the router in the Tellular and pass-through to your router which will handle the local ( 192.168.xxx.xxx ).

The Telular is "being too smart"...

The Netgear router needs an IP address from the Telular.

Hmm... If you have the same domain set up for the Netgear and the Telular AND, you have plugged the Telular into the Inet port of the Netgear this is expected. That is because the Netgear will not Bcast beyound its domain.
What I did with our Ubiquit and Netgear set up was to assign different domains to each and plug the Ubiquity into the Inet port of the Netgear. When they have different fixed IP addresses the Netgear will go out the Inet port to the Telular. Both act as IP address servers. Both have fixed IPs and both perform port forwarding so I can view the cams on the boat.

Since the Telular is fixed at 192.168.90.1 set up the netgear for something like 192.168.80.1 and plug the Telular into the Inet port of the Netgear.
I usually set up a fixed IP for the router that is 192.168.80.100 and let it assign low numbers to the attaching devices. Fixed IPs like cams get IPs above the router and outside the ip address range the router is serving.

Here is the Ubiquity config note that it port forwards to the netgear config that has an inet port address of 192.168.69.11 but a different LAN address. Note I am up in the condo now dialed into the boat. It's great when it all works
