Tempting the Battery Gods

I have a three battery system on the boat, Battery one is a size 24 1000 MCA starting battery with batteries two and three 27M Deep Cycle for house and electronics. Batteries two and three were replaced in 2016. Battery one, the starting battery, is looking a little old. The Midtronics tester shows it at 726 MOHS it used to be 1200+. Pulled them all for access and noticed that battery one had a tag that stated it was Shipped Feb 03! Unreal, a 14 year old battery that still cranked the power plant. This was an Exide battery with a BoatU.S. sticker.
Excellent performance! Now off to purchase another 1000 MCA Battery, hope to get 1/2 the longevity from the new one.

Old battery mfg. Exide, removable caps to check and add distilled water. New 1000 MCA battery mfg. by East Penn, NON-removable cap, maintenance free type of battery. We'll see how long this one lasts, but I'm sure it will NOT come close to 14 years. .
