The Lovebug capsized

Crew said they started taking on water while underway so the captain brought the boat to shallow water to beach it. Unfortunately it rolled.

A boat that size should have at least one emergency pump in addition to a few big Rules. On the 116 I run we have two 6000 GPH emergency pump, one hydraulic powered and one 240v. But even with the rules, that still may not be enough to keep up with a massive leak.

Hopefully we hear details soon

On AIS they were doing around 10/12 kts approaching the river entrance before speed dropped to a crawl

Interestingly yesterday in Greece a 150 footer partially sunk supposedly because the crew didn’t close a garage door correctly. Another odd incident. In the video you can see the open door near the stern as well as massive bumbling.

 
Took on too much water before hitting the shallows at West River, hence rolling instead of settling. Was heading towards Annapolis when we heard the UMIB Sunday and went to check it out.

Problem is that most boats don’t have a lot of extra space to store a diesel crash pump. I know… cut down on the toys, regain some storage space but it s not how it works in the real world. So what works on a commercial vessel isn’t an option on a yacht.
 
If you don't have a 2'x2'x2' space to carry this diesel pump, you might consider leaving that extra ice maker or flat screen on the dock. Most large high end sport fishing and cruising Yachts that I am familiar with carry at least one, some carry two.
