I have a problem. We have a mercruiser 3.0L. Every listing I can find for the thermostat calls for a 18-3650 kit. There is now way that that thermostat will fit in the housing. I can tell because after I pulled the cover off of the thermostat housing the gasket covered the entire area and only had two holes the gasket. The replacement gasket has three. The owners manual calls for a 160 thermostat and the replacement is a 140. I have not pulled the old thermostat out yet. There appears to be a plastic sleeve or something in the housing that sits down on the thermostat and I did not want to mess anything up until I have a better idea what I am messing with. The engine serial number is 4097080 124 99. The boat is a 2000 model but I think the engine is a 1999 because of the serial number. I really appreciate any help I can get on this matter.
