For our 30th Wedding Anniversary we are going to take a 10 day boat trip around the end of July'09.Starting from our homeport in Winthrop Harbor, IL. we will head due east to Saugatuk, Michigan. The plan is to work our way south around the tip and head back. We would appreciate info on good anchorage spots, marinas, places to eat-n-drink plus any points of interest any members from those areas have experienced.
Thanks in advance,
Bob & Val

i live in Saugatuck. you can anchor in the harbor or at the cove as you enter the river. Marina's on the saugatuck side are Seargents, singapore yacht club (you may have recip. privleges) coral gables has some slips, and yacht services (owned by tower) also ship and Shore motel has room on teh wall for transients. douglas side is tower marine.

eats and drinks. The Butler, The Butler deck!! and Phil's (non smoke) are my favorite. The Mermaid is also on the water and has good food. Douglas has every Day People Cafe, wild dog, and believe it or not the bowling alley has VERY good food and is non smoking.

for deli food, take out beer and booze, grocery items and Fuel hit River market please.

The beach is one of the top 10 in the country. Dune ride is fun even though a bit corney commentary from the drivers.

there is a taxi service and also public bus if needed.

let me know if you need other info or tel. #'s

Great Bob!
That's the kind of input we have been looking for. Most of those places were already on our list but your info helps narrows it down nicely.
Thanks,
