I was considering purchasing these tops for my seastrainers to help winterize my twin 260 I/O's. These seastrainer tops replace the existing strainer tops on Perko or Groco units and have a valve and hose connection. The instructions say to winterize your engines just: a)close your raw water inlet, b)open the valve on the top of the (new Thoroflush replacement seastrainer top) c)put the hose from the Thorofluch top into a bucket of antifreeze d) run your engines until the antifreeze comes out the exhaust. DONE! Sounds simple and easy. A friend of mine says he heard of problems like 1)the engine lost it's prime and 2)that he heard of problems where the engine couldn't draw from the hose and bucket. Anyone actually use these and had success or failure? Thanks!
