I just bought a new Carver 38 SS, has bow thrstr on it and I'm glad it does. While I don't use it a lot, I have a very tight fairway to get into my slip and it is VERY helpful in tight maneuvering and helps to keep the hull from off the dock going in and out of my slip when its windy and, most importantly, it makes boating more enjoyable. I've been boating for 8 years now, gone from single to twin I/O to now twin inboards. I'm amazed by the hesitancy of boaters to try new things, even if they are great advances...would you rather not have auto transmission on your car? Power steering? We seem to get caught up in the "salt of the sea" mentality and look at use of technology as less manly. They are not a substitute for knowing how to operate your boat, you still need to take your CG Aux course, but if my boating day becomes less stressful by using technology, bring it on...
