I think it's a good idea for folks to post experiences they've had with local boat related businesses both good and bad. The quality of workmanship can be eratic at best these days. Therefore it's always nice to go with a recommendation. That's why I posted about a positive experience that I had with AMC Canvass a few weeks ago.
I just had some work done by Al from Nav Tech in Amityville.
He did a fantastic job with the installation of a GPS, VHF, and Flow Meters on my boat this week. His background in electronics repair and installation is extensive, and it shows in his work. I would recommend him to anyone.
Thanks for the recommendation Don!

No problem John.........Al is probably one of the most experienced & knowledgable of them all........and a nice guy too. He is in the same class as AMC canvas.......

I would have to disagree and call him a crook. Hired him to do work on my baot a few years ago, and he reccomended relocating the in hull transducer and said i needed a new gps antenna and mast. he never finished the job,it was late fall, he took my money and refused to return calls to finish the work

Don,
Al did a great job.
He started on my boat Wednesday, and came back to finish it on Thursday. I offered to give him partial payment when he left Wednesday and he didn't take it. He ran in to a lot of problems Thursday with the install of the flow sensors and spent a long time on the phone with Garmin. Turned out a brand new cable and "T" were bad out of the Garmin box. He was able to supply replacements to make sure I was up and running and wouldn't have to wait for Garmin to ship new ones. He worked until 9:00 PM to get it together. Then he wanted to clean the cockpit and helm area.
He's a real nice guy.

Nav Tech (Al) has done excellent work for me. Repaired my GPS and Radar to be working like new. Reasonable, reliable and timely. Would definately recommend Nav Tech.

I've used Al at NavTech often too. Only had one bad experience and I think it was based on mis-communication. The guy is super knowledgeable and down-to-earth. Can be a little pricey but you get what you pay for and Al really knows his stuff. Sometimes he gets overwhelmed with work and it takes a bit to get him, but overall a thumbs up for sure.

he doesnt return phone calls and avoids you when he doesnt fuinish work and has already been paid.
