Wow. Took the boat over to Tices Shoal this past weekend so we could walk on the beach. I was shocked to see the boardwalk over the bay is totally demolished. Looks like the pilings shifted and the boardwalk above let go. The stairs leading from the bay up to the boardwalk are taped off with yellow danger tape. The boardwalk from the road to the bay is closed off and not open to the public. The section from the road to the ocean is still open.
This is going to get interesting. Hundreds and hundreds of boaters use that access from bay to beach during the summer. NJ is broke. I wonder if they will find funds to repair it.

There were really extreme high tides a couple of weeks ago. I bet that is when it happened. Get your hammers and planks ready boaters. We'll probably have to fix this ourselves. Just kidding, although we could probably do the job several million dollars cheaper than the State will pay.

I can see the boardwalk getting fixed fairly quickly...it may take a while to re-set the pilings. Wonder if thy can use a jet pump vs trying to get a pile driver in there.

There were reports of debri in the water after the high tide from Saturdays storm a few weeks back.
I remember as I launched that day, had bow spray over the bridge enclosure from FR to Key Harbor.
That night the water cresed the finger pier and the stern lines where tightrope tight at about 2:00am.

Be carefull walking around there to get to the beach, i wouldnt even bring the inflatable dingy in too far - could get expensive.

I remember going to Tices before the walkways were even built...not that long ago actually....neither the walkway from the bay to the road or from the road to the ocean. If you didn't have water shoes, your feet would burn like hell on hot days all the way from the bay to the ocean....I've got a few pics somewhere from the late 70's when a good portion of the boats at Tices were still made out of wood.

Would love to see those Dom.
My grandfather clamned the bay for years, had a couple of old Chris Crafts. He remembered when the LBI bridge was wood!

Just called the park. They did not have any estimates on when the work would start. Would not even give me a hint

I really hope they get their act together soon. It's one of our favorite spots.

We still have stuff floating all over the back Bay at Little Egg. Our marina seems to attract and catch anything floating out of the Tuckerton Creek.
The Bay is still full of debris from the storms and abnormal high tides.

My son was at IBSP this past weekend, and stopped at area 7 to take a walk to the bayside. He told me the board walk and dock are rebuilt. Apparently, the dock was rebuilt back a little ways from the beach, so now it is not over the water like it used to be. There are steps leading up to the dock from the beach.
