Are these things any good? I have a opportunity to pick up a set real cheap. My slip is real tight and was hoping these will help keep me off poles.

Dave,

I've got a TideSlide on one piling and Tide Minders on the other 3 (the piling with the TideSlide is limited in it's "up" capacity as it's a pier support piling, so the "minders" would get caught at high tide). They're awesome. My only issue with the TideSlide is that the stock length isn't long enough for Chesapeake winter blow-out tides. It would have been damn near impossible to install a longer one (they make custom ones) as I installed this one at a normal low tide and the bolts were just above the water. But if you don't have huge tidal changes and have a great offer, buy them! I'll send you an e-mail with some pics.

Kurt,
I have a opportunity to buy three 6 foot ones for $450. Is that a goo deal? They are $739 each new.

Having seen them both, if your pilings are tall enough, I would go with the minders. They allow more of a tidal swing. You can actually make them yourself far cheaper than MSRP.

We've been going back and forth via e-mail. But I will post publicly my answer to your question: YES! :-)

Thanks for the responses and help. I may just get them and see, can always resell. It's 4 hour drive to get them.
