Time for New Upholstery

Hello everyone, we are having issues with our Ultraleather interior. The color is wearing away in a number of places. We have a 1999 Carver Marine. Our friends with older boats have the same interior fabric and no problem. The company that manufacturers the fabric has been no help. All we use to keep it clean is a cloth and water. Anyway, I thought there was someone on this site who did upholstery. Any recommendations will certainly be appreciated. Much to my husband's dismay, it is time to get a few bids on having the interior reupholstered.

If the color is wearing away it means product was printed & the finished ink is wearing away. Generally all vinyl or polyurethane (Ultraleather) is printed for color uniformity and/or pattern. They usually have a clear top coat to protect colored ink for wear resistance & UV protection. Maybe got a bad batch of printed mat'l or corners were cut & no clear wear layer ?

We have a friend with an older 32 ft. Carver. His wife was a decorator and somehow
dyed the cushions a nice maroon color. If you need to find out what she used, PM
me and I can find out.

Talk to a few canvas shops. Some of them do upholstery work too. And some auto upholstery shops will do boats as well. The guy who did mine is no longer in the business. :>((

I can't tell you where to go but I will say this get as many quotes as you can, you may be surprised at the difference in pricing. I had my last boat done several years ago and the pricing ranged from what I paid to double and the job I had done looked great. I fact this is a big part of how I sold my boat in three days.
