Just saw this on a different forum.

Yesterday and today only( until 11:59 pm Sunday 10/1/17) West Marine has an offer whereby if one renews their Boat/US membership for 1 yr extension ( until 12/31/18) and renews or upgrades to Gold level towing, the charge is only total of $119, rather than the normal $169. ( Total discount of $50 off.)

Supposedly this must be done online by signing into a West Marine account in your name and accessing a West Advantage "portal" to a Boat/Us renewal page.
I wasn't able to figure out how to make that work after trying hard to find proper links after logging on, and could find any mention of the offer through WM or Boat/US.

WM live chat confirmed the offer is valid through today only.

I finally called Boat/US where I was told I had to go through WM since it was a WM offer.

But since I have been such a long-term member, the nice B/US lady kindly relented and completed the discounted renewal transaction for me at $119 including Gold towing.
I was also able to opt out of auto-renewal she said she was adding.

I expect others may have better luck than I attempting to find the offer through WM Advantage website , especially if you consult with WM Live Chat .

If you expect to renew for 2018 , it can pay to do that before midnight tonight.

No idea if it will also work for those interested in a new membership but it does apply to membership renewals and towing level upgrades to Gold .

What is Gold level towing? I get unlimited towing from them for $48/yr on my BoatUS membership. Never have used it--knock-knock!
 
I believe the Gold Unlimited plan provides 100% of the cost of Dock to Dock( of your choice, usually within the service area towing), rather than just a tow in while broken down.
This gets you to a desired service area with no charge. The "Unlimited" plan cost you 50% for that service.

"Provides 100% of the cost to tow your boat from its home dock or mooring for the purpose of repairs."

Note: Boaters with twin engines may not feel the upgrade is worth it since the tow companies have policies generally denying service if one engine is still usable to move the boat. I have T/I/B's and do have the Gold plan in case of jetsam dragger net or similar fouling both props or bad/no gas, etc., but thankfully have yet to need a tow in the 33 yrs I've have Boat/US towing plan. But have been on several OPB's which needed their tow service.
 
I have the unlimited gold and used it once about 10 years ago for a tow, and then again for a soft grounding about 2 or 3 years ago. Both times they showed up within 15 minutes and all I had to do was sign my name.
I called them a while back when my teenage kids started using the 18' bowrider by themselves and they told me the kids were covered under my plan at no extra cost.

Just a quick note, I contacted West Marine and offer ended 10/1.

At the boat shows there are usually at least 1 or 2 local BoatUS operators with booths who offer the same deal.
 
We always renew at boat show. Annapolis. Same deal.
 
I've always renewed before the boat show gets to Boston in mid-Feb., ..... but I do get each year's version of their nice free B/US boat bags at the show. :D
