is there a marina at current cut?
we got spanish and harbor planned, but sounds like exumas would be better
havent looked at the charts yet--the run from atlantis to the exumas --first stop is how long?
got about 10d to go from atlantis to hopetown
think i am taking my mom and her sister down to treasure, get them a condo, go to atl and then get back for a fun couple weeks back at treasure.
probably rushing it a bit to go to exumas?

No marina at Current Cut. I leave Spanish Wells and anchor to the left of Current Cut and leave early in the morning when there is slack tide to go south through Current Cut. It can be quite the ride if you miss the tide.

Solar you mean Spanish Wells I'm hoping. I've also heard the cut can give you quite a shove and there is a hard turn to the South that one has to make or you're screwed. Maybe not screwed but that is the recommended route through the cut. And, if you are going to the Exumas, note that going straight down there from the cut takes you through a mess of coral heads. I've posted a couple of chart images fyi.
And if you are going to Harbour Island, get a pilot. The Devil's Backbone is nothing, I repeat, nothing, to mess with.

Yes Spanish Wells, did not have my chart in front of me. As you go south after the turn from Current Cut you will have to deal with coral heads along the way especially at Ships Channel area and Middle Ground. As long as you follow the Explorer Chart route and the same Garmin route you should be alright. Make sure you have good light. The best anchorage is Allen's Cays. Again you will need good light or you can anchor on the bank on the west side. Arrive early since the anchorage fills early at times.

It's about 30-40nm from Nassau to Allen's and/or Highborn as I recall.

As solar said there is no marina at Current any more. But there is a nice anchorage off the beach in front of the country singer Lorretta Lynn's house.

With a boat like yours going through Current at any tide stage should be no big deal. Just watch for the effects of the cross current when you make the turn on the South side.
Current Cut is also a great place to dive or snorkel.

While running the Devil's Backbone is perfectly do-able with calm weather, good light and the Yachtsmans Guide and/or Explorer charts to guide you, it's cheap insurance to get a pilot. I recommend one who goes by the nick name "Bandit". His real name is Jacques. He normally brings out some home made bread with him when he meets you. And can get you stone crabs and lobster as well if you order ahead.
He can also give you a great area history lesson on the ride to Bri'land if you ask.

As to getting to the Exumas, while the "Yellow Bank" "Middle Ground" area between Nassau and the top of the Exumas are full on coral patch reefs, with good light they are very easy to see and make for great places to stop and snorkel around. If you stay to the SW side of the area there are fewer patches to contend with. Just try not to go through that area to early or late in the day. Or on a cloudy day.
