Trent-Severn / Georgian Bay trip

Very very nice...
Did you make it as far as Bobcaygeon?...
That one pic looked like the Peterborough area...How did you like the Big Chute...Kinda neet locking system...
From the smiles on the kids they had a good time...
I have done the Trent different times, and would do it many more...

No, we didn't make it east of Lake Simcoe. Maybe next year!

Big Chute was really neat. We were the only boat on the way down so we had front row seating. Given it was mid-week during both runs, we had little or no waiting at any of the locks.

Georgian Bay was near calm the whole way up to Pointe au Baril but quite choppy in the exposed areas on the way back (two days of strong wind warnings preceded our departure). Other than a little rain on launch day and the night we pulled out, the weather was perfect and the kids had a blast.

We highly recommend a trip like this to anyone thinking about it.

Great pix. We've made that run many times and you did a great job of capturing the character of the Trent.
How did you enjoy your stay at Driftwood Cove? It's one of our favorite stops.
Isn't Swift Rapids impressive. As many times as we've locked through there it never gets routine. When those massive steel doors shut with a thud and then begin to vibrate and shudder with the change in water pressure you know this isn't your average lock.

It looks like you caught Georgian Bay and Lake Simcoe on good days. It doesn't take much to stir those bodies of water up.

Thanks for posting..very nice indeed.

Really nice, thanks for sharing that. We have not done the Trent or Georgian Bay yet, but it is very high on our list.

Norman, Driftwood Cove was excellent. Great service and lots to do for the kids.

I think the kids liked Swift Rapids almost as much as Big Chute. It was certainly an experience to remember.

Glad you (and others) have enjoyed the pics.
